Oranges

Collectible

3/4/25

Oranges is an abstract typographic exploration that merges structured geometry with organic disruption. The piece is dominated by a bold, central orange shape, immediately drawing the viewer’s eye. This sphere serves as both a literal and metaphorical representation of the subject, referencing both the fruit and the color itself. Surrounding the sphere are intersecting lines and blocks of color that play with depth and contrast, creating a dynamic interaction between elements. The color palette—featuring bold greens, blues, and warm tones—adds to the vibrancy, making the composition feel lively yet calculated.

The typography is intentionally warped and fragmented, resisting conventional readability in favor of visual rhythm. The large, slanted letters wrap around the orange form, breaking traditional typographic rules to encourage a more experimental approach to communication. At the bottom of the design, a clean, understated label reads "Subject 04 – Oranges – 030425," mimicking an archival or scientific notation. This gives the artwork a pseudo-documentary feel, as if it were part of a larger series cataloging objects in a conceptual design experiment.

This piece is deeply inspired by mid-century modern graphic design and Bauhaus principles, embracing bold forms, strong contrast, and a balance of structure and playfulness. It challenges the viewer’s perception of hierarchy and order, as the elements shift between legibility and abstraction. Oranges isn’t just a still-life representation; it’s an exploration of how design can reshape the way we interpret everyday objects. By merging flat design with dimensional layering, the piece creates an optical push-and-pull effect, making it feel both mechanical and organic at the same time.
