Count Boxing

Count Boxing was designed to capture the raw intensity of amateur boxing while evoking the history and tradition of the sport. The title plays on the idea of a referee’s count—whether it’s the countdown before a fight, a standing count after a brutal hit, or even the tension of a potential knockout. I wanted the typography to reflect this duality: Count is set in a gothic-style typeface, giving it a sense of legacy and weight, while BOXING is slanted, bold, and aggressive, embodying the sport’s chaotic energy.
The halftone effect on the fighters was intentional, giving it a rough, screen-printed feel, like a poster that’s been plastered on gym walls for years. The dark navy and off-white color scheme, combined with distressed textures, makes it feel aged—like something pulled from an old fight archive. The placement of text, especially the tilted BOXING, creates movement, as if the punch is shaking up the composition itself.
Overall, I wanted this piece to feel raw, energetic, and nostalgic—like a reminder of the grit and adrenaline of amateur tournaments.
